Digital Presentation

I have begun a new project with my 5th grade students. We have started a digital presentation on the American Revolution. After listening to many of SmartBoard podcasts from Ben Hazzard and Joan Badger I have been inspired. I am going to have my students research a person, place, event from the American Revolution and create a digital presenatation. I told them I do not want a paper to turn in, I want them to create something to explain their topic to the rest of the class. They will be the teachers and will make this real for the others. Right now it is seeming like a very large hill to climb but I do have some excellent climbers in my room and they are very motivated to be working on this project. In fact many of them want to download Smart Notebook at home to continue their work. I will keep this blog posted on my progress along with my finished products.

I feel your pain. I'm just launching my classroom with a SmartBoard...thought I was doing pretty well. That is until I thought about all the things I was doing and that meant that my students weren't doing.

Ops. I need to work on making them responsible.

I feel that you have to get yourself comfortable with the board before showing your students how to work with it. You will find so many new things to try, create and share that you will wonder what you did before you had one.
